Behavior Based Safety Process
|
The 400 local employees at Sasol's Complex want to work safely for themselves,
their co-workers, and their families. This attention to safety has
made it possible for the chemical industry to provide some of the safest jobs
in the country, and Sasol has achieved one of the best safety ratings within our
industry. By observing work practices for safety and supporting efforts
to improve our safety performance, Sasol is continuously improving in this area.
Sasol has two Behavior-Based, Employee-Driven Safety Processes.
At the heart of the process is the safety observation. Employees
voluntarily observe each other's work practices to encourage safe work and
identify at risk behaviors. Observed behaviors are then tabulated
regularly to determine if there are any patterns that can be addressed with
additional equipment, capital projects, or training. With the help
of many observations, Sasol employees and contractors completed major projects
and maintenance outages without any injuries.
